John Sorrell Dies Suddenly-Heart Attack Proves Fatal to Ex-Deputy Sheriff:
John Arris Sorrell, age 49 of Anniston and Lincoln, Rt. 1, former Calhoun deputy sheriff, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 9:10 a.m. yesterday while in route to Talladega on a business trip.
Mr. Sorrell has stopped at a service station when he suffered the attack.
A resident of Anniston for 49 years, he was a former police officer and a former deputy sheriff. At the time of his death, he was supervisor of ammunition at Anniston Ordinance Depot. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock at Usery Chapel with the Rev. J. E. Stauffer and the Rev. W. S. Talmage officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Usery Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Mr Sorrell Is survived by his wife Mrs Evelyn Sorrell of Anniston and Lincoln Rt I one son John Arris Sorrell Jr of Anniston; his mother Mrs Lizzie Weatherly of Anniston; one step-brother Asa A. Weatherly of Oxford; one step-sister Mrs. Ralph Carter of Oxford; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be E. G. McGinnis, Pat White, J. S. Murray, George P. Martin, Kenneth Walker, and Virgil Brooks.
