3.4a. Will of Abraham Creson, 31 Jan. 1791. Wife Mary to have the homeplace with 60 acres of the River tract adj. Hudspeth. Son Joshua to have the land on Deep creek & 225 acres adj. on the N side adj Giles Hudspeth, also a mulatto named Jesse. Dau. Jane or Jinny Steelman, wife of Charles Steelman, to have 250 A on Yadkin R adj. Turner and a negro named Daniel, aged 12. Other lands to be sold to pay debts. Exrs: son Joshua & Charles Steelman. Wit: H. Speer, Thomas Mason, John Carter. Prvd by Speer. Rec. Aug. Ct. 1791.
[Note: Abraham Creason was in Anson Co., NC, 1748/48, orginially from Augusta Co., VA; he was in Rowan Co. by 1754 when he was apptd Constable. On 21 Sep. 1759, he recd a Granville grant for 688 A in Rowan on W side Yakin River and both sides Deep Creek. His wife at the time of his death was nee Mary Furches, widow of Stephen Lewis of Kent Co., DE. The 1769 Rowan tax list shows him with 4 polls. The 784 Surry Co. tax list shows Abraham Creason with 235 A on the River and 225 A adj that with 1 wp and 1 pb, also 300 A on Garners Branch, 250 A on Salisbury Road, and 150 A on the Yakin River. He was a Regulator and the Capt. of a Surry Co. militia district in 1775. In the 1787 Surry Co. tax list, Joshua Creason is shown with 1 wp; he married Rachel Steelman, dau of Matthias Steelman, se 3;12a. Charles Steelman who m Jane Cresaon was son of Matthias; Jane had previously been married to Samuel Cunningham who died before 1781, see 1:159.]
