STOKESDALE — Mrs. Pattie Tilley Sorrell, 66, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 6, 2009, with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Sorrell's funeral will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, at Stokesdale Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Sorrell, Rev. Carl Brown, and Rev. Gary Blalock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Stokes County, Mrs. Sorrell was born on July 11, 1943, the daughter of the late William Thomas and Mamie Lawson Tilley.
She was a member of Stokesdale Baptist Church and retired from Amp, Inc.
On July 10, 1959, she married Norwood Allen Sorrell.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Norwood Sorrell, of the home; sons, William Allen Sorrell and his wife, Brenda, Kenneth Ray Sorrell and his wife, Teresa, Jerry Davis Sorrell and his wife, Debbie, all of Stokesdale, and Lonnie Clenton Sorrell and his wife, Donna, of Germanton; daughter, Mamie Elizabeth Sorrell of Stokesdale; sisters, Annie Mae Bullins of Stokesdale, Hazel Medley of Lawsonville, and Brenda Cheek of Asheboro; 10 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Sanford Tilley and Fred Tilley, and sisters, Ersie Goins and Shirley Collins.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. this evening, Saturday, August 8, at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel, and other times at the home of her son, Kenneth Sorrell, at 986 Lemons Road.
The family wishes to extend a word of special thanks and appreciation to the staff of Hospice for the loving care and attention shown to Mrs. Sorrell during her illness.
