According to the book: Engle - 1743-1985 - Families Are Forever collected and complied by Alice Engle Calhoun, George was the fifth child of Philip and Mary Darke Engle.
George and his wife, Elizabeth are buried in Monroe, MO. George held one of the original land grants in Monroe County, purchased in 1838. At his death, it contained 600 acres.
George and Elizabeth were the parents of eleven children, who all either came with them or soon followed them to Monroe County, MO.
Will:
This indenture made the first day of August in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight, between George Engle and Elizabeth Engle, his wife of the county of Monroe and the State of Missouri of the one part and Julia Ann Engle of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnessith that the said George Engle and Elizabeth Engle for and in consideration of the natural love and affection they have for their daughter, Julia Ann, hath this day given, granted and confirmed unto Julia Ann Engle, her husband, off springs, all that tract or parcel of land situated and being in the county of Monroe on the waters of Salt River. It being half of the north west quarter of section twenty six, in township 55, North and range 8 west containing eighty acres more or less, together will all singular appurtenance there unto belong, conveys with the appurtenance unto the said Julia Ann Engle, her heirs, and assign forever. The said George Engle and Elizabeth Engle, themselves their heirs, executor, --administrators of the aforesaid tract of land and Appurtenance unto the said Julia Ann Engle, her heirs and assign against the claim or claims of all and every person what so ever doth and will forever warrent and defend by them present.
In Witness where of the said George Engle and Elizabeth Engle hath hereunto set their hands and seals, the date and day above written.
