Allen Parkes Freemon was born 2 Feb 1824 in Tennessee or North Carolina, the son of Samuel and Mary S. Lynch Freemon. He died 14 Oct 1902 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee and was buried in the Freemon Cemetery in Leoma, Tennessee.
"...Down the hill south from Freemon's old home place was the location of their mill on Mill Creek. Allen P. Freemon built a grist mill and a flour mill. He built a dam and a race for the water to pour onto a huge wheel. It turned constantly. The grain was ground slowly by two big rocks. During the Civil War, the mill was burned and Jim Shores on Shannon Creek gave him two mill rocks so he did not build the flour mill back but the corn mill he built and continued to grind all the people's corn for many years. After he died, Mary C. Springer and husband, Aaron Springer, cared for the mill. The mill was in use until 1937." Cenith Freemon Powell, "History of Leoma, Tennessee"
