Lydia McIntyre Hilbert (d/o James Hughie McIntyre); Jonesboro, TN, My father James Hughie McIntyre had a sister, Charlotte, who married Hugh Herrel, and a brother, John, a crippled man who lived in Virginia. Something was wrong with his back, but he could reach the ceiling with his foot. They came from Yancey and Mitchell Counties, NC. Charlotte had red hair. Fannie Clapp McIntire:"Grandma Lizzie couldn't read or write. She brought seven children to Virginia after her husband died on Unaka Mt. in NC
"Fannie Scyphers Hite:Bill and Lizzie McIntyre were kin through the Hearls. Irby Wm. McIntyre: Betsey McIntyre came to Virginia because of the Hearls. Notes: The only children of Joseph's that descendants of Bill and Lizzie McIntire know of are the seven that he had by Elizabeth Whisenhunt. However, since he would have been in his early 60's when he had these children, he could have easliy had children by a previous wive or wives, and Charlotte and James Hughy could have been his.
The wide difference in their ages suggests the possibility of other children as well. We know that Bill E. and his wife "Lizzie" Roberts McIntyre were some kin to each other, and that there was a strong connection with the Hearls. If Bill E. and Charlotte were half brother and sister (as would appear to be the case if Lydia McIntyre was correct in her understanding that John McIntyre was a brother to James Hughie), then Bill E. was Lizzie's great uncle as well as her husband.
