These included the Board of Deacons, the Stewardship Committee (Chairperson), Personnel Committee (Chairperson) among others. She also taught an Adult Sunday school class for many years.
In 1988, Charlotte was the recipient of the Mary Baldwin College Service to Church Award. She received this award for her vision and dedicated commitment to organizing the building of an interdenominational chapel on Bald Head Island. This beautiful chapel opened its doors welcoming worshipers for the first time on Easter Sunday, 1987.
Charlotte had a commitment to education throughout her life, first as a fifth-grade teacher, then as an advocate for her own children's educational needs, and later as a member of the Board of Chowan College.
In her free time, Charlotte enjoyed golf at Hope Valley Country Club, bridge with her life-long friends, travel throughout the world, University of North Carolina basketball, and time spent with her family.
