- Beverly Jean Sorrell Wickham
Beverly Jean Sorrell Wickham, 65, of Amarillo , formerly of San Antonio, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Bob Thomas, chaplain of Odyssey Healthcare, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Beverly was born April 19, 1942, in Dumas to Claude Allen "Pete" and Lois Sorrell. She married John E. Wickham, a rancher from Carrizo Springs, on Nov. 16, 1964, in Clovis , N.M. Beverly lived in Amarillo until 1953, when the family moved to Ropesville. In 1958, they moved to Claude. After high school, Beverly attended cosmetology school and became a favorite hair stylist in Claude. After her marriage in 1964, Beverly lived in Carrizo Springs and in San Antonio, where she worked for a while as a real estate agent. In 2003, illness brought her back to Amarillo to be near family. The family is grateful for the loving care Beverly received from the staff at Plum Creek Nursing Facility and Odyssey Hospice. She was preceded in death by John Wickham in 1996; and a stepdaughter, Jerry Wickham, in 2001. Survivors include a son, John E. Wickham II and wife Clayann of Carrizo Springs; four granddaughters, Cheyenne, Hannah, Sierra and McKayla; three stepgrandsons, John Johnson and wife Stephanie of San Antonio and their children, Savannah, Nathan and Emma, Justin Johnson of San Antonio and Michael Johnson of Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, Winston Sorrell and Phillip Sorrell and wife Martha, all of Amarillo; and two nieces, Sheri Sorrell of Amarillo and Sandi Morrison and her children, Allan, Alex and Zac Morrison of Flower Mound.
