Mildred Merritt Snedegar, 79
Mildred Merritt Snedegar, 79, of Rushville, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at The Waters of Batesville.
Born May 22, 1924, in Carthage, she was the daughter of Thomas H. and Ida M. (Calbert) Jordan, both deceased. She married Roy C. Merritt on March 13, 1942; he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1994. She married Clarence Snedegar on Feb. 28, 1998; he preceded her in death in May 2000.
Mrs. Snedegar lived in Rush County most of her life, in the Arlington area. She was a 1942 graduate of Arlington High School. She worked as an auto and sporting goods manager at K-Mart from 1976 to 1993 in the Anderson, Indianapolis, and Greenfield stores. She was a member of Arlington Christian Church for over 50 years. She was also a member of the ESA Sorority, Rush County Home Helpers Home Ec Club, the American Sewing Guild, several area card clubs, and Rush County Amicitia Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Mrs. Paul) Burkhart of Batesville; one stepson, Richard Snedegar of Rushville; one stepdaughter, Lisa (Mrs. Tom) Wagner of New Castle; niece Beulah (Mrs. Kenneth) Lord of Mays; nephew Bob Jordan of Rushville; two granddaughters; several step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville. Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Arlington Christian Church or the Rush Memorial Hospital General Fund.
