South Carolina ) I do hereby certify unto all whom it may concern that Martha Red Barnwell District ) the wife of the within named James Red, did this day appear before me and upon being privately and separately examined by me did declare that she does voluntarily and without any compulsion dread or fear of any person or persons whomever
renounce release and forever relinquish unto the within named James Hankerson his heirs and assigns also all her interest and estate and all her right and claim of Dower of in or to all and singular the premisis within mentioned and released. Given under my hand and Seal this twenty first day of November Eighteen hundred twelve.

South Carolina ) Know all men by these presents that I James Redd of the Said District
Barnwell District ) and State Planter In consideration of One Hundred & Eighty five Dollars to me paid by Robert & John Smith Jr. I have granted bargained sold and released and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said Robert Smith, Jr. a Tract of Land containing One Hundred and nine Acres which is part of that Tract on which said James Redd now lives bounding on Land Eastward Land run for William Minor South West on Land for Jacob Turner So. E. on Land run for Jonas Griffin all other sides Vacant when run and is known by the name of Clay Pond on the road from Silver Bluff to Columbia where James Redd now resides together with all and Singular the right members hereditaments and appurtenances to said premises belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining To Have and To Hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Robert and John Smith Jr. their heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said Robert and John Smith Jr.
their heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs and against every person whosoever lawfully claiming or to claim this same or any part thereof. Witness my hand and seal this 23rd Aug, 1814 and in the thirty eighth year of the Sovereignty and Independence of the United States of America.
