COMANCHE -- Funeral services for Troy H. Sorrells, 89, of Comanche, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ray Ash and the Rev. Jerry Shields officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery at Camp Air in Mason County under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Mr. Sorrells died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, in Dublin.
Mr. Sorrells was born Sept. 15, 1913, in Mason County, to James Sorrells and Elvira (Henry) Sorrells. He was a stock farmer and rancher and a member of East Side Baptist Church. He lived in Brady many years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Brady, where he served as a deacon, was a member of Men's Prayer Breakfast and also taught Sunday School to junior high school boys. He was a veteran and served in the United States Army during WW II. He married Inez Probst in April of 1950 in Brady.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Sorrells of Comanche; son and daughter-in-law, Fred H. and Sami Sorrells of Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Kinley and Delinda Sorrells of Comanche; daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Steve Cunningham of Brownwood; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Darby Salge of Tyann; daughter and son-in-law, Ella and Donnie Snodgrass of Lorena; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Garland Sorrells of Odessa; and sister, Evelyn Verette of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard Sorrells, Giles Sorrells, Jim Fred Sorrells and Clayton Sorrells.
Memorials may be made to East Side Baptist Church or Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment in Brownwood.
