Mrs. Lenora M. Sorrells, 90, of Ceres died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the Jacksonville Convalescent Center.
She was born Nov. 29, 1912, near White Hall, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Pruitt) Hart. She married Charles W. Sorrells Dec. 12, 1931, and he died in January of 1980.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Wayne (wife Kate) Sorrells of Jacksonville and Gerald Sorrells of Ceres; six grandchildren, Tony Sorrells, Kathy Strubbe, Maureen (husband Mark) Fox, John (wife Carol) Sorrells, Mary (husband Jay) Bates and Jim Sorrells; and three great-granddaughters.
Preceding her in death were a son, Billie Sorrells; a grandson, Charles Patrick Sorrells; two sisters, Hazel Strowmatt and Gladys Roodhouse; and a brother, Robert Bud Hart.
Mrs. Sorrells was a member of the Athensville Baptist Church, Senior Citizens, American Legion, VFW Post 1739, and Royal Neighbors. She worked at Nesco and Mobil Chemical.
Visitation was Friday at Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Murrayville, where funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Bruce Pilcher officiating. Organist Gladys Huff accompanied Sue Tapscott who sang "Precious Memories," "Beyond the Sunset" and "Amazing Grace."
Casketbearers were Tony Sorrells, John Sorrells, Jim Sorrells, Jay Bates, Mark Fox, Dick Roodhouse, Ralph Strowmatt, Bobbie Hart, and Frank Costello. Burial was at Richwood Cemetery near Roodhouse.
Memorials are suggested to Richwood Cemetery.
