- A search of the 1850 Census of Greene County, Tennessee turned up Margaret Dean, then aged 2, born Tennessee, living with her mother, Elizabeth Dean, aged 26. They were living in the household of a James and Cinthia Collins, who appear to have been unrelated parties.
Neither Margaret Dean or her mother, Elizabeth Dean, appear on the 1860 Census. However, Elizabeth Dean was clearly still living in Greene County, Tennessee in 1860, as she married on 29 July of that year soon after the census was taken to Jacob Fillers, of Greene County, Tennessee, the son of Jacob Fillers, Sr., and his wife, Katherine George.
Elizabeth and Jacob Fillers appear together on the 1870 and 1880 Censuses of Greene County, Tennessee; Margaret Dean occurs on the 1870 Census living with the family of a minister. Jacob Fillers evidently died soon after 1880. His widow, Elizabeth, married again 16 October 1884, in Greene County, Tennessee to Peter Anderson. Elizabeth subsequently appears on the 1900 Census living with her son, William Fillers in Greene County, Tennessee, she being listed as Elizabeth Anderson, widow. She appears on the 1910 Census of Greene County, Tennessee living with her son, David W. Fillers, she being listed as Betsy Fillers, widow. She reportedly died 27 May 1913, in Greene County, Tennessee.
A search of the Ancestry World Tree project (http:// .ancestry.com///main.aspx) turned up a database by J. Lanham which covers the family of Jacob Fillers and his wife, Elizabeth Dean. Mr. Lanham traces their descendants in some detail. He appears not to know that Elizabeth Dean, wife of Jacob Fillers, had a daughter, Margaret Dean, who married James Almarene Teague. As such, further evidence is needed to prove conclusively that Elizabeth Dean, wife successively of Jacob Fillers and Peter Anderson, of Greene County, Tennessee is the same person as Elizabeth Dean, mother of Margaret (Dean) Teague, who occurs on the 1850 Census.
