Lynn Troy Sorrells
Mr. Lynn Troy Sorrells of Weston Lakes, Texas, age 82, passed away peacefully in his home on August 22, 2019. He was born in Gilmer, Texas to Jesse Leonard Sorrells and Letha Faye Pritchett on January 20, 1937. Lynn grew up in and around Gladewater, Houston and Odessa, Texas where he attended Odessa High School.
Six days after his 18th birthday, Mr. Sorrells enlisted in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Sargent, proudly serving in the Special Forces during the Korean War.
After his time in the Army, Lynn went to work in the oil patch as an engineer with The Western Company. He then made a name for himself with State Farm Insurance, where he spent 35 years as an Agent and Manager. He was an active member in his community, where he was President of the Highlands, Texas Rotary Club, elected “Citizen of the Year” by the Highlands, Texas Chamber of Commerce, and was extremely proud to be a Freemason and Shriner for over 50 years.
Lynn was a loving and devoted husband to Brenda Sorrells for 44 years, father to 5 children (Salina Cowan, Staci Holbert, Scott Sorrells, Deana Delozier and Jesse Sorrells). Mr. Sorrells had 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel in Katy, with Danny Sorrells officiating.
