Dece didn't have a middle name. She was nicknamed after her father, D. C. Sharp, and that's how you pronounce it (dee see). When she was a baby everyone said she looked just like her Daddy so they started calling her "Little D. C." or "Dece."
She lived within 3 miles of the spot she was born her whole life.
Married 12/03/1899 in Chambers Co., AL to Rufus A. Sorrell.

Mrs. Odecie Sorrell Is Buried at Penton, 12th.
Mrs. Odecie Sorrell, age 60 years, wife of R. A. Sorrell, one of the county's best known citizens of the White Plains community, passed away at the home last Thursday morning at 5:30 o'clock following an illness of several months.
Mrs. Sorrell was a member of the well-known and respected Sharpe family of Chambers County, a life-long resident of the White Plains community and a woman who had devoted a useful sixty years to her family and community. She was a member of the Penton Church of God, and it was in the soils adjacent the church that she returned to earth last Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Rev. J. L. Mitchell and Rev. J. L. Duffee were the officiating ministers.
Surviving are a husband, R. A. Sorrell, White Plains; ten children, Harold, Rae, Curtis, Glenn, O. D. and Lewis Sorrell, Lanett; Ruby, Jack, LeMerle and Engman Sorrell, all of Buffalo. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters, Charles Sharpe, Roanoke; Mrs. R. M. Jackson, Fort Payne; Hershel Sharpe, Mrs. B. B. Benton and Mrs. B. E. Earle, Buffalo.
Pallbearers were the eight sons of the deceased. Interment was in the family burying plot at Penton, with J. E. Cutler in charge of funeral arrangements.
Corrections: Hershel should be Hershal & Sharpe should be Sharp.
