Son John Pope Cole born 1 Jan 1809 Virginia died 8 Jul 1892 Parker County,Texas married Espsa Adelina Husband
From what I have learned James D. Cole was the Pastor of Concord Primitive Baptist Church in Belleview, Lincoln County, TN and was blind. I learned from another researcher that James D. Cole's father deeded him property in Richmond County, NC in 1802. This was before his father George died.

Joy Durrett posted a query to the TNLINCOL List in which she
listed the children of James D. Cole and Eglantine Leftwich. She named
three that I didn't have (John Pope Cole, Jesse Leftwich Cole and William
Franklin Cole); a couple that I did have in my database but didn't have
their parents (Finetta Cole and Littleberry Leftwich Cole), and corroborated two others (Rebecca Cole and James Cole). She did not include Joel L. Cole. While some individuals have both Jesse Leftwich Cole and Joel L. Cole as sons, there is no information regarding Jesee Leftwich Cole. I am beginning to wonder if the two are really the same person.
Upon taking a closer look at James D. Cole's family, I noticed that there was an unidentified female 10-15 years old in his household in the 1830 census. This made me really curious. Then in checking the 1840 census, I noticed 5 children that are unaccounted for (1m -5, 1m 5-10, 1f -5, 1f 5-10, 1f 10-15).
When I came across your LEFTWICH database, I noticed that you have that James D. Cole has a daughter named Charlotte Cole (b. Abt. 1818), but no additional information. Her age matches that of the unidentifed female in 1830.
In the book, "Cemetery Records of Lincoln-Moore Counties, Tennessee," by Helen & Timothy Marsh, on pages 15 & 16 are the following entries with the COLE surname: (Wiley-Cole Cemetery -- "Location: One0half mile NW of Belleville, Tennessee in Ashby Hollow")
"Minnie Cole, wife of

"John D. Cole

"William F. Cole *

Age: 72 years."
"Mrs. Esther, * Wife of

Died Jul 16, 1888
Age: 50y, 5m, 23d."
The information within the parentheses are as published and are the compilers notations. The asterisks (*) indicate that the information was taken from a newspaper account. However, the specific newspaper from where this information obtained is not noted (with good reason).
The first three entries represent the first column on page 15 for this cemetery record. The fourth entry (John D. Cole) is the first entry of the 4th column on that page. The final two entries (William F. Cole and his wife, Esther) are found on page 16, and are the last entries in the first and second columns.
With regard to when and where Eglantine "Tiny" Leftwich died, I don't know. However, she is enumerated in Joel L. Cole's household in 1860 and is believed to be the female listed as "A." age 85 in his household in 1870.
You don't include Joel L. Cole as one of James D. Cole's & Eglantine "Tiny" Leftwich's sons. However, Joel L. Cole (25), along with his first wife, Nancy Woodruff (22) and their two children, William (3) and Louisa (1) are enumerated in James D. Cole's household in 1850. I believe that Joel L. Cole is another son.
