Sorrell and his unit wen to Port Hudson, LA. They were ar POrt Huson in A.J. Herod's command by January 7, 1863 and may have been known as the Poit Camper Artllery.
Battery B (Sorrell's unit) was at Port Hudson on the left at Port Hudson and turned back several strong attacks on the extreme left of the line, next to the river. They had fist been hit hard at the skirmish at Plain's Store near Port Hudson. Sorrell was paroled at Camp Enterprise on Decmber 15, 1863.

Apparently, Sorrell reenlisted and served wth the 10th Infantry. If so, the 10th fought with Hood's Brigade in near Atlanta in April 1864. This unit later consolidate with the 9th MS in the Carolinas. This would explain how Timothy came to be taken as a POW first in Point Lookout, MD and later at Ft. Delaware in Delaware. He was finally released on June 12, 1865
