Joe Anderson Ingle was born in Jackson County, Indiana, September 4, 1844, and passed away at the home of his son, Anderson on the home place, Sunday morning, May 10, 1931, at 2:25 at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 6 days.
Mr. Ingle had been in poor health for the past year, and confined to his bed for two weeks.
He was the sixth child of William (Bill) and Elizabeth (Betsy) Abel Ingle. He had one half sister, Sara, and three sisters, Mary, Matilda, and Louise; and four brothers, William, John, and Wesley, all who has preceded him in death. One brother Lewis lives at the Keokuk County home in Sigourney.
He came with his parents to Iowa at the age of ten years and settled in Jackson Township, where he spent his entire life.
He was married to Lucy Ann Ruby when in young manhood and to this union were born six children Louise, Will and Lilly May all died in infancy, and Anice died at the age of 37. Bert and John Ingle, the two surviving children both reside at Ollie. Lucy his wife, died July 12, 1885, and he remarried Anna Oswalt on February 10, 1890. To this union were born five children, all of whom are living. They are Bertha Bennett of Burlington, Virgil of Ollie, Myrtle Arvins of Silves, Illinois, Anderson of Ollie, and Ivy Ryals of East Moline, Illinois. Surviving him is his wife Anna, one brother Lewis, seven children, 22 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held at the Ollie Baptist Church, Monday afternoon at 2:00 and interment was made in the Ollie Cemetery. Rev. L. Johnson, of Brighton, was in charge of the services.
