Bessie Jean Hames, 72, of Wonder Lake, formerly of Crystal Lake, died on Monday, August 18, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, Illinois.
She was born in Petersburg, Tenn. on October 12, 1941, to John and Addy (Reeves) Morton. She married Jerold G. Hames on December 24, 1957, in Petersburg.
Mrs. Hames worked at home raising children and running the household. She also enjoyed volunteering with the Crystal Lake Little League. She was loved and will be missed.
She is survived by her husband Jerold; a son, Douglas Hames; two daughters, Rhonda (Gary) Hall, and Carolyn (Robert) Montgomery; five grandchildren, Zak (Amanda) McManaman, Rebecca (Adam) Watkins, Katelin Hall, Jacob Hames and Andrew Hames; a brother, Jerry Morton; and two sisters, Louise Titsworth and Johnnysue Scurloc.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Allen; and a brother, Richard Morton.
Visitation will be Friday, August 22, 2014, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. Woodstock. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 10 am. Burial will be at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.
