T.O. was born to WILEY HENLEY VARNER and MARY LOUISE KING SORELLE.
He married LILLIAN CLARA ALLYN on September 1,1906 in Sweetwater,Texas. they had one son FRANK OWEN.
T.O. was a cowboy and in 1926 he bought a portion of the famed O-O ranch along with other land and started the Z BAR ranch in KENT COUNTY,TEXAS. At the time of T.O.'s death he owned 15,000 acres in Kent and Stonewall county in Texas and a 25 section ranch in DeBaca county, New Mexico
23 years after his death TEXAS A AND M UNIVERSITY invited the SORELLE Family to bring T.O'S branding iron to the newly constructed KLIEBERG Agricultural Center at College Station,Tx.
The brand was registered in 1905 to the SORELLE Family.
There are 254 Cedar planks in the stairwell.One for each of the counties in Texas. At the base of the stairwell is a book that contains a short history of each brand. there are many other brands burned in to the planks.
That day former PRESIDENT LYNDON JOHNSON and GOVERNOR JOHN CONNLEY and former GOVERNOR BILL B. WALLACE were there.
This was a great honor for a great man.
He was my grandfather and the most honest and smartest man I have ever known.
T.O.had 5 sister's VIRGINIA LOUISE ,MARY EMMA, ROSA LEE, ANNIE FLORINE AND ZULA and 3 brother's WALTER KING VARNER , WYLIE OSWIN and EDWIN KING.
