Civil War Records:
B.S. Warf, private in Capt. C.W. Beale's Company I, 24th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry, Confederate Army. 22 years old. Joined on August 2, 1861, with his brother, Edward, at Camp Trousdale, signed up for 10 months. Present on Nov. & Dec. 1861 roster. Present on Feb. 24 to June 24 1862 roster, which means he was present at the Battle of Shiloh.
Present on Sept. to Dec. 1862 roster. Edward gets sick and dies on Nov. 24, 1862 in Tullahoma. Benjamin appears on list of casulties at the Battle of Murfreesboro, Dec. 31, 1862. Described as slightly wounded. Apparently he had enough of war. His brother has died; he was wounded. Roster dated Jan. & Feb. 1863, he's shown as deserted in January.
