- SPRINGFIELD - Robert Dennis Drury, 80, of Springfield passed away at 4:05 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at St. John's Hospice.
He was born Oct. 24, 1928, in Springfield, to Nellie Bryant and Edward Drury. He married Jessie Inglis; she preceded him in death. He later married Kathryn Wicks in Nov. of 1985; she survives.
Also surviving are 3 sons, Thomas (partner, Bill Bartolo), Terry (wife, Thwyla) and Todd (partner, Mary Kirschner), all of Springfield; 2 grandsons, Troy and Travis Drury; 1 granddaughter, Terren Drury; 6 great-granddaughters; 1 sister, Joella Terry of Port Charlot, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Edward Dale Drury; and one sister, Donna Jean Hammond.
After his marriage to Jessie he spent his time in Divernon working with Little League, Cub Scouts, and driving school buses on special occasions.
Bob was a master book binder working most of his life at Frye Printing, Williamson Press, and later Frye-Williamson Press.
He was actively involved in the Ansars Arab Patrol. His favorite place to relax was the Cottage Inn. Bob was baptized into the Catholic religion on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, one of the proudest days of his life.
Cremation has been accorded.
Family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the home of Terry and Thwyla, located at 4355 Arapahoe Drive in Springfield. Bob's friends and family are asked to gather at Terry and Thwyla's to give Bob a grand send-off, for more information call Terry at 415-8651 or Tom at 725-0108.
Bisch and Son Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ansar Shrine Children's Hospital.
