  Keelin Jones "Keelin" was the nickname of Martha C. Jones. She was also called "Kiddy" and "Keel". This is Crittenden Wagster's wife, and the sister of my great-great Grandfather Norphlet Green Hill Jones. My source is a book written by my cousin called "The Survivors - My Ancestors" by Justine Snipes. We once sent away for the military records of one of the Wagster boys who rode with the Confederate cav. I don't remember if it was Thomas or John. What was interesting was that he was listed with the cavalry, then a deserter, then later jailed in the Union stockade in St. Louis after being captured as a bushwhacker. Completely understandable in my opinion, the bushwhackers enjoyed greater freedom, more war booty, and were probably better supplied than the convential CSA cav units. Just a theory. Most interesting about the idea (Critteden Wagster and Kiddy. Page 135. ) that perhaps Keelin was visiting her Mom in Missouri when she gave birth. Any basis for this notion? Keelin's parents remain a mystery and I've always assumed they lived in N.C. where she was born. My great-great Grandfather N.G.H. Jones lived in Bloomfield, Stoddard County, Missouri in the 1850s.
