Son of George Freeman and Sarah Benge. Born in either Clay County,Kentucky sometime between 1812 and 1815, David Freeman first married Sarah 'Sallie' Benge (who was his first cousin) in Clay Co. Kentucky on Sept. 24, 1842. The family eventually moved to Woodford Co. sometime before the 1880 census, where Sallie died about 1883. On August 22, 1898, he married Annie Brandenburg (who was more than 30 years younger} at Versailles. David is last found in the 1900 census living with his daughter and son-in-law, Clede and Clara Chapman, Clover Bottom precinct (south of Versailles). In this record, he is listed as widowed (his DOB is based on this record). A death notice, which was published in the 'Louisville Courier-Journal' on Dec. 18, 1901, states that he died near Elm Corner (which is south of Versailles) and was to be buried at Versailles.
