Notes |
- Lewis was the son of William Owen and Elizabeth (Cade) Medlin.
In 1793, he married Rachel Smith in Pendleton, Anderson County, South Carolina.
Lewis had an unsuccessful land draw in Franklin County, Georgia in 1805, living there briefly. Lewis and Rachel were among the first members of the New Hope Baptist Church of Bedford County, Tennessee, organized 1st April 1809 (Ref. Tennessee Archives at Nashville, Tennessee).
They were members of the Cole County, Missouri United Baptist Church in Moniteau County, Missouri called Green Grove Baptist Church (still operating in 2010). They organized a United Baptist Church in Platte County, Missouri, where Lewis died. (In the 1840 US Census, Rachel Medlin is listed as widowed and living with her daughter, Melissa (Medlin) and John Hallford, who all moved to Tarrant County, Texas.)
Lewis Medlin and his son-in-law (via Mary), Andrew "A.W." Anderson, did the stone work for the original Platte County Courthouse.
