Washington, IL - William "Bill" Maples, 63, of Washington, died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a monthlong illness.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam and a four-year member of the Illinois Amy National Guard, 123 Infantry Battalion, Company A. He was a member of the Northern Tazewell Fire Department for eight years, volunteering as a firefighter and E.M.T.-A. Bill also served as a Tazewell County sheriff's auxiliary police officer.
He was a former employee of the T.P.&W Railroad as a brakeman. He was currently employed by Neil Tire & Rubber in Washington.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sandy; two sisters; five sons; three daughters; 28 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; one daughter; and one grandson.
Cremation has been accorded.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements.
