  Two Very Different William McCarter's There is alot of confusion between the two William McCarter's. And this mix up is getting posted all over the internet. 　 1st William McCarter was born 27 Jan 1758 York, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Abraham McCarter and Elizabeth Carson. William McCarter married Isabella Carson. It's his American Revolution Pension Records that have gotten mixed up with the 2nd William McCarter. 2nd William McCarter was born 02 Oct 1756 Barts Township, Lancaster County PA. He was the son of Moses and Catren McCarter. This William McCarter is also believed to be the Father of James McCarter who married Rebecca Ogle and settled in Sevier County, Tennessee.
