He was Confederate Capt. John B. Garrison, of The Cherokee Legion Infantry, Company C., of which he Joined July 22, 1863 for Local Defense. He was The Clerk of The Superior Court of Cherokee County Jan. 1862-Jan.1866.
He is Noted as Saving Important Cherokee County Records, by hiding them Safely during The Yankees (Sherman), Burning of The Cherokee Co. Courthouse in 1864.
He married Permela Dugon May 15, 1827, they had Nine Children.
One of His Daughters, Roseanna Lucinda Garrison (Rosalie Garrison Carlisle), married Benjamin Franklin McCollum, a very Highly regarded Lt. Col. Confederate Soldier, They are both buried at The Historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta.
John B. Garrison was a brother to Mary Barksdale Garrison-Dickerson.
He was a Son of War of 1812 Veteran, Nehemiah Garrison, and a Grandson of Revolutionary war Soldier David Garrison.
