Oveta Baxter Brown Cureton, age 79, born November 27, 1936, passed away Saturday August 20, 2016 after a long illness, in Knoxville, TN.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who spent a lot of time with the church. She sponsored summer Bible school for many years as this was one of the events she loved. Her career as an Assistant Teacher at Smoky Mountain and Cosby Elementary Schools allowed her to help children learn and grow intellectually.
She was preceded in death by: Ty Brown (Husband), David Cureton (Husband), Oku Baxter (Father), Pearl Ramsey Baxter (Mother), and Dorothy Webb (Sister), Cosby TN.
She is survived by her sons: Timothy Brown (Donna), Watertown TN and Tony Brown, Knoxville TN; and step daughters: Melissa Helton (Todd), Lenoir City TN and Kathleen Cureton, Florida. Sister: Bobbie Green (Jesse), North Myrtle Beach SC. Brother: Gary Baxter (Robin), Cosby TN. Grand Children: Madison and Tyler Brown, Knoxville TN, and Jacob Helton, Lenoir City TN.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday, August 22, 2016 with funeral services following at 7:00 pm In Manes Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Catons Grove Cemetery, Cosby, TN.
