Notes |
- He was a revolutionary soldier who migrated into Cocke Co. apparently from VA.
He remained in Cocke Co. and applied for a revolutionary pension there. There
is no indication on his application as to who his wife and children might have
been. He is possibly a relative of Spencer Coleman, another Revolutionary War
soldier who migrated into Cocke Co. in the early days. Spencer (1752-1834)
married Lucy White 29 Nov 1773 in Shenandoah Co., VA. Later they migrated into
Cocke Co. where they lived for appr. 40 years before moving into Monroe Co.
where Spencer died, leaving a will. The will does not list a son Benjamin,
therefore it is assumed that Benjamin is the son of William. Source: Cocke Co.
