A son of George A. Freeman, Hiram arrived with the family in Wabash Co. Indiana from Carroll Co. Indiana in 1846. A preacher from his youth, he served his ministry in the United Brethren Church of Indiana. He married Zilpha Shew in Vermillion Co. Indiana on Nov. 19, 1846. At the time of his death he was Presiding Elder of the North District of the St. Joseph Annual Conference of the United Brethren Church of Indiana. He was killed as the result of a train accident at Inwood, Marshall Co. Indiana on May 6, 1872.
