- Obituary for Dorothy Lee Teague Perry
Dorothy Lee Teague Perry, 91, of Elizabethton, formerly of 220 East 11th Avenue, Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at the Ivy Hall Nursing Home in Elizabethton following an extended illness. She was a daughter of the late Logan and Minnie Frances Shell Teague and was born in Kingsport. Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Throughout her years raising her seven children, she enjoyed working with the PTA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Perry; two sons, George L. Perry and David E. Perry; one grandson, Josh T. Perry; three sisters, Nola Perry, Lou Eva Stubblefield and Emma Hart.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Keith and Barbara Benfield, Johnson City; Eddie and Joan Kyker; Rev. Steve and Brenda Burleson, all of Elizabethton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Harry and Etta Perry, Elizabethton; Kenneth Perry, Johnson City; eleven grandchildren, George Perry, Karen Hill, Bobby Norris, Jennifer Carr, Eddie Kyker, Alan Kyker, Tracy Burleson, and Jeremy Burleson, all of Elizabethton; Kevin Perry, Murfreesboro; Paul Perry and Becky Flesher, both of Richmond, VA; fourteen great-grandchildren, Alex Hill, Emily Carr, Justin Carr, Jessie Carr, Bobby Kyker, Jaylen Burleson, Domnique Burleson, Makayla Burleson, Ethan Burleson, all of Elizabethton; Maddie Lowman and Chelsie Horning, both of Richmond, VA; Dylan Perry, Turkey; Chase Perry and Ashelynn Perry, Murfreesboro; two great-great-grandchildren, Sebastian Horning, Richmond, VA; and Jasmine Carr, Elizabethton; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Perry, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Steve Burleson and Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Dale Williams, soloist and Mr. Edwin Taylor, pianist. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday.
The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service in Ensor Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be George Perry, Kevin Perry, Paul Perry, Eddie Kyker, Alan Kyker, Bobby Norris, Jeremy Burleson and Steven Carr.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jonathan Bremer and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the love and care shown to Mrs. Perry during her illness.
