My GGGrandfather, John Hambrick, and all the Nathan Thurman clan appear on the 1820 Census for Highland Co., Ohio simultaneously. The Thurmans and John Hamrick were living on Hardin Redick's land near Rattlesnake Creek. On November 1, 1828, John Thurman bought his final property on Paint Creek Rattlesnake Branch from Allen Thurman, his brother. Transcribed Deed Vo. 2, page 270: Nov. 1, 1828. Allen Thurman and Dorothy, his wife, To John Thurman. cons: $225.00 77 acres. Witnesses to deed: Joel and Pleasant Thurman. Joel Thurman ack. deed as Justice of the Peace. John Thurman only enjoyed his property for about 8 more years until he died. John Thurman and his sons are listed on the 1830 Census and the family is well documented by the Sampson Sisters in their paper "The Thurman Throng." Original Deed Vol. 16 page 116, Mar. 28, 1838.
