Harold Monroe Estes, age 98, a Lehigh resident passed away on February 25, 2016 at Lehigh, OK. at 98 years, 6 months and 16 days. He was born on August 9, 1917, to James Monroe and Mary Evelyn (Moats) Estes, at Lehigh, OK.
He attended School at Friendship and Lehigh schools and was a Farmer/Rancher. Harold entered Army Air Corps in 1942. Trained at Sheppard Field, TX. , Army Airfield, Carlsbad, N.M., Camp Livingston, La. Served in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Harold was awarded the Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, A.M., Theatre Ribbon and EAME Theatre Ribbon with one Bronze Star. Harold was discharged in 1946. Harold served in WWII.
Harold and Margaret Vicie Jackson/Parker were married on Sept. 9, 1944 at Carlsbad NM. Harold was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, pheasant, guineas and fowl
