Jeff Griffin is survived by his loving wife, Cherei Griffin, their 4 children and spouses, Lisa DeMayo (Robert), Michelle Biehn (Scott), Daniel Griffin (Megan) and Sarah Gailey (Kyle). Their deceased son, Michael Griffin, passed away 3 years ago. Jeff was grandpa to 9 beautiful grandchildren, Kaleigh, Shayla and Peyton Biehn, Madelyn and Ava DeMayo, Axton and Gabriel Griffin, Corey Griffin and Brayden Gailey. Jeff was born in the city of Bellflower, California to his parents, Herman and Dotty Griffin (deceased), brother, Mike Griffin (deceased), and sister, Debra Heit. He was a graduate of Bellflower High School. He worked in inspection right out of high school and became very skilled in that field and had special friendships with his co-workers. He retired from Fluor of 18 years. In 2011, due to his ongoing battle with multiple myeloma for the past 5 1/2 years, Jeff and Cherei moved from Bellflower, California to Herriman, Utah to retire there and receive treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Jeff and Cherei were High School sweethearts and were married almost 35 1/2 years. Jeff was quite an athlete before the cancer. He ran 18 marathons and countless 5k and 10k races. He loved basketball and formed a group who played every Saturday morning at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 15 years. Jeff also loved baseball, hockey, hiking and fishing. He loved to read and had quite a collection of books. He loved bird watching. He was very active in the church and held many callings and one most cherished was being bishop for 4 1/2 years. He loved working with the youth of the church and was an amazing influence on all he worked with. His abiding love for his Savior, family and friends were an inspiration to all. Jeff had a kind sweetness to him and a great love for people. He was a true friend, a fun and loving father and a devoted husband and very special grandpa. His strength and courage throughout the many trials in his life were inspiring to everyone. Jeff had such a fun sense of humor and brought so much joy and laughter to his sweetheart, family and friends. He also enjoyed performing fun pranks on family or friends. Jeff was kind to everyone and enjoyed serving others in any capacity. He had a great love for the outdoors and the beauty it offered. Anyone who had the honor of being in Jeff's life is richly blessed. His greatest loves were his beloved wife and his whole family. He and his family wanted to send a great "Thank you" to the Huntsman Cancer Institute Multiple Myeloma Clinic for all the love, encouragement and hope they so freely give. We will be forever grateful. To all our family and friends who have been a source of constant love, compassion and support; we thank you. We will miss you but cherish the day when we are together again. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, 16115 Studebaker Road, Cerritos, CA 90703, with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Olive Lawn Memorial Park in La Mirada.
