Mary Elizabeth Spencer
Mary Elizabeth Britton Spencer, 57, of Elkins, and a patient at Barbour County Good Samaritan Center at Belington since December 2000, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 7, 1944, in Rowlesburg, daughter of the late Gay Victor and Anna Elizabeth Shreve Britton. She was a graduate of Rowlesburg High School. She worked at the Fairlea Restaurant at Aurora and as a live-in companion and caregiver. She was Methodist. She is survived by a son, Jeffrey D. Spencer, of Elkins; two daughters and spouse, Edith and Bobby Brenwalt, and Judith Elaine Spencer, all of Dailey; two brothers, John D. Britton, of Nutter Fort, and Jerry A. Britton, of Valley Bend; five sisters, Patty A. Fragmin, of Anmoore, Linda S. Bolyard, of Rowlesburg, Jeanie J. Shipe, of Keyser, Edith M. Biser, of Oakland, Md., and Debbie E. Britton, of Fairfax, Va.; a half brother, Clarence C. Shreve, of Baltimore; a half sister, Dorothy Ford, of Grafton; fiv e grandchildren, Matthew Brenwalt, Cory Brenwalt, Robin Howell, Heather Howell and Kyrsten Spencer; and a stepgrandchild, Devan Collins. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Sterle D. Spencer, on Oct. 1, 1994, whom she married Feb. 19, 1966, at Red House, Md. Friends may call at Lohr-Barb-Vance Funeral Home, 120 First St., Elkins, from 6-9 p.m. Monday. Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, with the Rev. Marshall Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
