Mrs. Maxine Anita Watson
SHREVEPORT, LA- Memorial services for Maxine Watson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on the 19th day of May, 2007 in the Chapel of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be Rev. Ed Thomas and Dr. Ramona Lynn Bethley, District Superintendent, assisted by Randy Koncinsky.
Mrs. Watson died May 5th of heart failure. As her last gift in life she donated her body to L.S.U. Medical Center in Shreveport to be used for medical education and research.
Mrs. Watson was a graduate of Vinita Oklahoma High School and The Midland Radio and Television School in Kansas City. She was employed by Mid-Continent/Braniff Airlines in Kansas City, Missouri, Des Moines, Iowa and St. Louis, Missouri.
Mrs. Watson and her husband, James, moved to Shreveport, Louisiana from St. Louis, Missouri in 1966. They moved to Alexandria, Louisiana in December, 2006. While in Shreveport, she served as a secretary for the Community Concert Association for ten years and as office manager for The Reading Center in Shreveport for fourteen years, retiring in July, 1995.
Maxine was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport, The Couples Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, and was Chairman of the Hope and Joy Circle. She was also a member of Chapter R of the PEO Sorority and the Wednesday Book Club. She was a member of the Shreveport Symphony Women's Guild, The Women's Department Club and a Volunteer at Christus-Highland Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Davis of Vinita, Oklahoma, three sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her loving husband, James Watson of sixty-two years; her son, Mark Alan Watson and his wife Janet (Koncinsky) of Alexandria, Louisiana and twin granddaughters, Erin and Jennifer. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Mrs. Kenneth Painter of Corpus Christi, Texas; Mrs. Lucille Merriman of Los Fresnos, Texas; and, Mrs. Gerry Skinner of McAllen, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Christus-Schumpert Grace Home Hospice Center, 1035 Margaret Place, Shreveport, Louisiana 71101 or to the United Methodist Women at Broadmoor Church.
A reception will be held in the church parlor after the memorial service.
