WEST ALABAMA BREEZE - September 25, 1901
DEATH OF AN OLD CITIZEN
On Tuesday the 3rd day of September, Mr. Henry P. Reece died at the home of his daughter Mrs. William Snyder. The deceased has been in feeble health for a long time and disease with old age caused his death.
Mr. Reece was a well known and well esteemed citizen of this county. He was twice married and had a large family of children, several of whom survive him.
He was for many years a member of the Baptist Church and proved himself an active and valuable member until he became too old to attend to church affairs.
He lived about 14 years more than the allotted three score and ten, being about 84 years of age at his death.
Funeral services were held at old Bethel Church about six miles from town by Rev. J. W. Cowan and a large number of people gathered there to pay respect to the departed aged citizen. The body was interred in the church yard near by.
