William H. Roby, 88, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the Carmel Home. He was born January 27, 1918 to the late Daniel & Anna Leah Mattingly Roby in Daviess County. He owned and operated the King Charles Inn for 33 years. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, belonged to TPA and enjoyed playing golf and oil painting. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Gray Roby on June 25, 2002; a grandson, Kevin Gray Roby on September 24, 1972; and three brothers, Richard, Leon & Snookie Roby. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Shirley; his daughter, Leah Harrington & her husband, Bob of Owensboro; a daughter-in-law, Judy Roby of Owensboro; grandchildren, Tina Edge & her husband, Michael, Mandy Roberts & her husband, Matt, Kris Roby & his wife, Sally, Robin & Todd Harrington; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam Roby & his wife, Gena of Owensboro. Services will be 1 PM Saturday at St. Pius Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Friday with prayers said at 6 P.M. and after 10 A.M. on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home.
