- “Big John”
Johnny Lee McAdams, 66, of Sandy, UT passed away June 23, 2016 at LDS Hospital after a valiant fight with AML (Leukemia). He is the son of Cecil Lee McAdams & Berdean Margaret Kamla. He was born at home in Haigler, Nebraska on January 7, 1950.
He married the love of his life, Barbara Bush Crockett – BC – February 10, 1978 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized September 12, 1986 in the Jordan River Temple.
John was a loving and caring man with the ability to make you laugh and smile. He had an outgoing personality and the ability to make lifelong friends in a very short time. John was an entrepreneur and salesman extraordinaire.
He proudly served in the US Air Force and held many different positions in the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter Day Saints. John loved the outdoors and everything nature had to offer. He was a successful hunter and guide. Some of his favorite places were west Yellowstone, southern Utah, and Onion Creek in Moab. He also enjoyed giving back to the community. John volunteered with the Alta Youth Football League for 18 years, serving 9 years as President. He helped them win many trophies and passed on his knowledge of a sport he truly loved.
John is survived by his children Bobbie (Allen) VanBuskirk, Kim Crockett, Johnny Jr (Jenny) McAdams; grandchildren Shawn Crockett, Korinne Crockett, Zachari VanBuskirk, Duncan Bakes-McAdams; great-granddaughter A’layla Sloan; siblings Eileen (Kent) Kirkwood, Larry (Vicki) McAdams, Lela Christensen and Sherri McAdams; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations in John’s name to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 1st, 2016 at 11 AM at Evans & Early Mortuary located at 574 East 100 South Salt Lake City, UT 84106. We will have an open mic for friends to share a memory of John. A light luncheon will follow the service. Interment will be at a later date in the American Fork Cemetery.
