Funeral services for Alton Wade Crook, 18, of Fritch, are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Sanford Fritch School gymnasium. Officiating minister will be the Rev. F.W. Elmore, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church of Fritch, where Crook was a member.
Interment in Westlawn Memorial Park will be directed by Minton Mortuary.
Crook died Tuesday in a Galveston hospital. He was a freshman at West Texas State University in Canyon.
Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Crook, two sisters, Annette and Karen, two brothers, Jackie and Terry, all of the home in Fritch.
The youth's death was attributed to burns he received on Dec. 3 near a Canyon service station.
According to reports from Galveston, the popular Sanford-Fritch High School graduate told officers he set fire to himself while in a state of despondency over an argument with his parents about leaving college to go to California to work.
He was attending West Texas State University on a basketball scholarship.
Room mates of the youth said he left his lodging after midnight and apparently west to the service station to buy gasoline. He entered an alley and within a few minutes came running from behind the station, his clothing aflame. He was treated at Neblett Hospital, Canyon before he was flown to Galveston.

Funeral services for Alton Wade Crook, 18, Fritch, were to be held at 3:30 p.m. today from Sanford Fritch School gymnasium, the Rev. F.W. Elmore officiating. Interment in Westlawn Memorial Park was to be directed by Minton Mortuary.
Pallbearers were Robert Seagroves, Skipper Moore, Jody Richardson, Jack Johnson, Dale Burrus, Rondy Williams, freshman basketball players at West Texas State University, Canyon.
Honorary pallbearers were other WTSU basketball team members.
