Funeral services for Molly Patterson Gary, 97, of York will be at the Chapel of Bumpers Funeral Home in York on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Patsy Chaney and Rev. Barrett Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in the York City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Gary passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 at Rush Hospital in Meridian. She was born January 5, 1920 in Demopolis, Alabama to A.R. and Clara Williamson Patterson.
She was a 1938 graduate of Demopolis High School and a 1942 graduate of Livingston Teachers College now known as University of West Alabama. She retired from Gulf States Papermill in 1985.
Survivors include her sons Gordon Patterson Gary (Gail) of Mobile, AL; Barney Marion Gary, III (Jean) of Chattanooga, TN; sister Clara Lewis (Ralph) of Houston, TX; grandchild Andrew Patterson Gary (Renee) of Columbia, TN; great grandchildren Magen, Jackson, Jenna, Lauryn Gary; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents A.R. and Clara Patterson; husband Barney Marion Gary, Jr.; brothers George Ira Patterson and A.R. Patterson, Jr; and sister Sara Patterson Ruzic.
Pallbearers: John Patterson, Andrew Gary, Ed Ruzic, James Ruzic, John D. Ruzic, and Parke Edwards.
