Elizabeth Ferguson
(1717–1774)
Partial transcript of will of James Ferguson 12 Nov 1740 naming his eldest daughter as Elizabeth Scanland Crane
17 Nov 1740
Goochland County, Virginia
Partial transcript of will of James Ferguson 12 Nov 1740 naming his eldest daughter as Elizabeth Scanland Crane. This proves the Elizabeth who married Jonathan Scanland Crane was Elizabeth Ferguson. It also proves she was married to Jonathan prior to 1741 as is so often reported by researchers. I believe Elizabeth's assumed birthdate of 1717 is incorrect and that she was born earlier and that the reported marriage of an Elizabeth with no last name given to Jonathan in 1723 is Elizabeth Ferguson. More research is needed and I could very easily be wrong.
