On 12 January 1822, John Marr married Sarah "Sally" Bradley in Wake Co., NC.
Having left the Raleigh area, this Marr family eventually lived and farmed in Bedford (1830 Census), Lincoln (1850 Census), and possibly Marshall counties in Tennessee.
By 1880, John, Sarah, and daughter Betsy were living in Charity, Moore Co., TN, as did sons James and Lesell and their families.
That census indicated John's folks were born in Maryland and South Carolina, whereas Sally's were from North Carolina.
John is listed as having died near Mount Olivet Church.
John's parents are unknown, although investigation into Revolutionary War pension records for a John Marr, Sr. in Wake County reference a son named John who would be our John's age...and there are barely any other Marr families in the region at that time.
This bears further research.**

**John Marr Senior's estate files reference Esther, his widow, and his son, John. (Oddly enough, even people who've checked out the estate papers have missed Esther's name. It shows up over and over again in John's probate records.)
Per John Sr.'s will, John "Junior" would have inherited land (and is the only person listed besides Esther), but sold his interest in it just two weeks after "our" John Marr married in the same county.
Since our John moved to Tennessee not too long afterwards (he had kids born in the 1830's in TN), one has to wonder whether it's just possible the land sale was to put together cash for his Tennessee move...
In the elder John's Revolutionary War pension application, he appears before the court in 1820, stating:
"...I the said John Marr Senior am by occupation a farmer but by age & infirmity, not able to pursue it, I have a wife in her 54th year, a son by the name of John in his 21st year but works for himself..."
It describes John, Sr. as having turned 90 on 28th of July "last," which I supposed we can believe to be 28 July 1820.
This means he was born 28 July 1730.
Since the 1820 Census is lost for Wake Co., there's no way currently to check and see if John, Jr. had land next to John, Sr. or what.
FWIW.
Points to ponder.
What we do know now - for certain - is A John that was "OUR John's" age was in Wake Co. at the SAME TIME our John was and was a JR. to this John Marr, SR.
Also, that this John Marr, Sr. was married to an Esther, last name currently unknown.
