  Hugh B Laughlin BIRTH 1715 Ireland DEATH 26 Feb 1765 (aged 49–50) Orange County, North Carolina, USA BURIAL Unknown MEMORIAL ID 175811280 Son of James and Elizabeth Stewart Laughlin. Husband to Mary Harlan (widow of Owen Evans). I have not discovered Hugh's birth record but am assuming he was born in Ireland because his father, James Laughlin, was born in Dublin, his mother, Elizabeth, was also born in Ireland. James and Elizabeth immigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1742 with their five children, Hugh, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, and William. Hugh would have been 27 years of age at that time. The family name of Laughlin is of Scottish heritage and was originally McLaughlin or Mac Laughlin. Hugh and Mary Harland Evans were married October 23, 1748 at the Holy Trinity (Old Swedes Episcopal) Church of Wilmington, Delaware. Mary was disowned by the Society of Friends for marrying out of unity* per Women's Minutes at Kennett Monthly Meeting.
