HAZEL E. HAMMON MATTA
A funeral for Hazel E. Hammon Matta will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Battle Ground Baptist Church. She died Saturday in a Vancouver home at age 70. Mrs. Matta had been comatose since an auto accident in January.
Mrs. Matta was born in *Minatare, Neb., on Feb. 22, *1921, and had lived in Vancouver the last 18 years. Her husband, Arnold, who also was injured in the auto accident, died in March. Mrs. Matta's daughter, Dixie M. Grendahl, also died in March. She was not involved in the accident.
Surviving Mrs. Matta are her daughters, Donna Harris, Maud Harrington and Frances Montgomery, all of Vancouver, and Mary Frio of Brush Prairie; stepdaughter, Kathy Martin of Washougal; son, Ray Wharton of Battle Ground; stepsons, Alan and Russell, both of Vancouver; brothers, Dennis Hammon of Vancouver, Albert Hammon of Bridgeport, Neb., and Jack Hammon of Lacey, Wash.; sister, Frances Gilman of Tacoma; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
