Bickerstaff Funeral services for Herod B. Bickerstaff, 76, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, in the Thompson Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with the Revs. Bobby Conner and Byron Banta and Miss Nona Kay Bickerstaff officiating. Burial was in the Bullard Cemetery. Mr. Bickerstaff died Saturday afternoon, June 6, at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born Dec. 2, 1910, in Hill County, and had lived most of his life in Bullard. He was a retired farmer and a member of the United Methodist Church in Bullard. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Bickerstaff, Bullard; two sons, Bill Bickerstaff, Slocum, and David Bickerstaff, Bullard; two daughters, Miss Nona Kay Bickerstaff, Syracuse, N.Y., and Mrs. Shirley Banta, Marshall; one brother, Leonard Bickerstaff, Dialville; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Danny Harris, Arlin Harris, Jack Harris, Charles Harris, C.L. Braly, Jr. and Bob Braly.
