John Jackson Jr. was the son of John and Elizabeth (Cummins) Jackson of Clarksburg, Harrison County, West Virginia. Much misinformation has been printed about this line but the research of Nancy A. Jackson of the Jackson Brigade has proven that this John Jackson remained in the Harrison/Lewis Co WV area until just before his death.
The Arkansas Gazette (8/18/1821) states: "Died -- At Helena, A.T. on the 26th July, Mr. John Jackson of Harrison County, near Clarksburgh, Virginia." Presumably he is buried somewhere in Helena, Arkansas. Chancery records reveal that John Jackson Jr. was on a trip to New Orleans to sell slaves for his nephew John George Jackson.
John Jackson Jr. married in Harrison Co WV to (1) Rachel Hadden on 10 Apr 1786 and (2) Elizabeth Cozad on 02 Jul 1797.
By his first wife, he had Edward Hadden Jackson m. Rebecca Katherine Love; David J. Jackson; and Sarah Jackson m. Alexander R. Ireland.
By his second wife, he had Jacob Jay Jackson m. (1) Margaret Marcelia McNulty and (2) Permelia Frances Watson; Mary E. Jackson m. Joseph Gusman; Elizabeth Jackson m. Enoch Gibson; William W. Jackson m. (1) Charlotte McClelland and (2) Lucy S. Wertenbaker Parrack; Samuel C. Jackson; George Riley Jackson m. Cecelia Beverly McNulty; and Rebecca Jackson m.
