Fayetteville Observer, Sep 7, 1876: "Expulsion at the stated meeting of Mt. Hebron Lodge No. 344, A. F. and A. M. held on the 7th day of April, 1876, Isham Sorrels was expelled from said Lodge and from all the rights, benefits and privileges of Masonry, for gross un-Masonic condut, and notice of said expulsion was orderd to be published in the Fayetteville papers. By order of the Lodge. W. G. Pylant, W. M. S. C. McCollu, Sec'y Sep 7."
Fayetteville Observer, 12 Oct 1876: "Col Isahm Sorrels, another prominent Republican of this county, bade farewell to Radicalism and has enlisted for Tilden, Hendricks, Porter and reform. He says, we are told, that Grant and his party has already stolen too much, and he thinks a change is absolutely necessary. Who next? Come right along, gents; we bid you welcome."
