Joel and Tempy (Grace) Gilbert's son, John C. Gilbert, a lawyer of Benton, Marshall Co., KY, corresponded with his relatives as heinbefore shown. In a letter, 10 Feb 1858, to his cousin, Mrs. Sophia A. Lynch (P803 m 8), he states: " The relatives in this country are all well." It is inferred that part of this Gilbert family had settled in Marshall Co., KY, which is not far from Stewart and Henry Counties, TN, on the KY border where Joel Gilbert's sister, Mary Ursual and her husband, Stephen Parker, had resided.
